Nip and Tuck Creek Placer – Stanley, ID

The Nip and Tuck Creek Placer is located just outside Lower Stanley. You can walk to it from in town. There is some evidence of excavation on the eastern side of the road but there aren't really any visible artifacts. We did see some elk grazing on the ridge.

Eureka Mine – Hailey, ID

The Eureka Mine is located in Bullion Gulch outside of Hailey. The mine has many collapsed structures and one standing building. The mine also has an exposed mine shaft. I dropped a rock into the shaft and never heard it hit the bottom. Use extreme caution when visiting this mine. There are large tailing piles on either side of the road. There are lot's of artifacts scattered around the area.

Sunbeam Mine – Custer, ID

There is an active open-pit mining operation on the edge of the Frank Church Wilderness of No Return. It's located past the Yankee Fork Gold Dredge up Loon Creek. You get the best view of the operation from the top of the winding switch back near the Loon Creek Summit.

Triumph Silver Mine – Triumph, ID

The Triumph Mine is located between Hailey and Ketchum. It operated as late as the 1950s. Many artifacts from the mine are clearly visible as you drive down East Fork Road. The mine is a bit of a natural disaster as it still continues to leak heavy metals into the ground water.
